Barbara Donn Apple Dews passed away on April 6th, 2021. Barbara was born on July 11th, 1947 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Robert Donald Apple, Sr. and Esther Weiss Apple. Barbara was the oldest of 6 children. She moved to Utah when she was 6 months old. As a child Barbara took dance, ballet, piano and roller-skating lessons. She graduated from South High in Salt Lake City. Barbara married Gailyn Brent Thaxton in 1966. Together they had 3 daughters. They later divorced. She married Charles Alan Dews in May 2017.
Barbara enjoyed spending time with family, especially at Disneyland, Flaming Gorge, Lagoon and Seven Peaks. She loved playing games. Barbara had many talents including crocheting, knitting Christmas stockings, drawing, music, crafting, cooking and flower arranging. Barbara attended and graduated from LDS Business College and later graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (RNBSN) from Weber State. She worked for many years at Cottonwood Hospital. She had many opportunities throughout her life to nurse and care for family members and friends. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Barbara loved, spoiled and found great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. FAMILY!!!
Preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Esther Apple.
Survived by her husband, Charles Alan Dews; her uncle Michael (Jan) Weiss; her siblings: Steve (Glenda) Apple, Laury (Paul) Tuttle, Annette Apple, Ilene (Layne) Strong, Robert (JoLynn) Apple Jr; her daughters: Melodie (Daren) Loveless, Gaylene (Brian) Walker, Rachael (Bryan) Engebretsen; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Zachary, Emily, Lily & Rody Loveless; Jon, Sydney & Graham Loveless; Emma Loveless; Ashley, Trevor & Hunter Daniels; Austin & Kailin Walker; Amanda & Kohle Newbold; Anastasia Walker; Benjamin & Emily Gartside; Jonah Engebretsen; Ammon Engebretsen; Maren Engebretsen, Hanna Engebretsen; Daisy Engebretsen; Dylan Engebretsen.
An outside service will be held Thursday, April 15th, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery, 6500 So. Redwood Road, Taylorsville, Utah 84123.
