To see Aspen was to love her. Aspen was such a special little girl. She was the person who walked into a room and everyone felt her sunshine and wanted to be close to her warmth. She had an irresistibly contagious little laugh that brought joy to the core of all who heard it. She was as sweet as a pound of sugar when she wanted to be, or as stubborn as a mule if she felt she needed to be. She was ALWAYS looking out to defend the underdog, be it human or animal.

Aspen absolutely loved her family and friends. Loved them with all her heart. She had a special place in her heart for her little brother, Anthony. He would drive her crazy like 2 year old brothers do, but she would jump to his defense in a heart beat and was always ready for a hug or a snuggle from him. She also loved animals and not just the cute ones, she would try to find something positive in every animal (including spiders). She wanted to help everyone and everything be the absolute best they could be. She loved nature; trees, oceans, mountains, and streams. She collected rocks, leaves, feathers and shells everywhere she went. She helped us realize all the beauty in some of the simplest things in life that we normally take for granted.

She had a special place in her heart for her little brother Anthony. He would drive her crazy like two-year-old brothers do, but she would jump to his defense in a heartbeat and was always ready for a hug or a snuggle from him.

In her short six years on this earth she made a greater impact on thousands of peoples lives, more than most will ever make. She was the perfect example of what to do when life throws the impossible at you, you take it as it comes, never give up, and try to find the good in everything and everyone you meet. That is exactly what she did.

The world would be a better place if we could all be more like her and she will be missed beyond measure.

Aspen passed away peacefully at home in her parents loving arms surrounded by family on Tuesday, September 13th at 1:06pm. Aspen always wanted everyone to be together and we believe she was waiting for that perfect moment. Fly high sweet girl until we find you in our arms again. We will love you for eternity.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of our sweet Aspen Marie on October 9th from 12:00-7:00pm at her favorite park Flat Iron Mesa (top pavilion) in Sandy, Utah. Aspen always loved parties and everyone being together. We want to show Aspen how loved she is as she is watching down on us from above.

In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to finding a CURE for DIPG so that other families don’t have to go through what we (and many other families) have been through.

Dear Agnews’

We just now saw this, and are so sorry. What a heartbreaking loss for your family. She put up a good fight and made the most of her short life, and is now in God’s hands. Words cannot express enough, as we know the loss of a child. Although we never knew Aspen, we appreciate that you let us know what an incredible child she was.

You have our deepest sympathies,

Tim and Jod

I got to know Aspen mainly from afar in Wisconsin through many, many Facebook postings, and conversations with my beloved twinner, Mark Weiss, her loving grandfather, and his loving grandmother Annie. I delighted in the many stories of her travels, her strength, her kindness, her creativity and her beauty. Our family trusts that our sister Pam, who always adored children, will be by her side in heaven. Watch over us all Aspen Warrior Angel. All my love, from your great aunt Michele.

I never met Aspen but I have followed her thanks to your updates. She has touched me personally as she was so brave to undergo all the treatment and tests and she always managed to keep a beautiful smile on her face. She showed me courage and to be thankful for every day God has given me to live one more day. I know she is at peace now and walking and jumping around in Heaven. She will always be in my heart and my family's heart as we all have been praying for her when she was struggling with her disease. I will pray for your family as you grieve through this time of loss. Aspen is alive in all the people she has touched. You were very lucky to have such a beautiful girl that touched so many people's lives.

God Bless
