South Jordan, Utah-Jack was born November 20, 1936 in Midvale, Utah to Arthur and Venetta Garside Snyder. He passed away August 5, 2021 due to cancer and dementia.

Jack grew up in Union, Utah where he cherished his memories of living on a private lane. Along with his lifelong best friend Reid McCormick, together they enjoyed many hours swimming in the pond during the summer, and ice skating on that same pond in the winter. Jack spoke often of his many fond memories growing up on Milne Lane. He was a graduate of Jordan High School Class of 1955, and was a proud Beetdigger his entire life.

Jack married Sharon Palmer September 11, 1957. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple, February 25, 1975.

Jack was the owner of “Jack Snyder Masonry”. He was a master craftsman and was known as a perfectionist in his trade. During his masonry career he built more houses than we can count, along with commercial buildings including several LDS Meetinghouses, he also designed amazing fireplaces and mailboxes. Another talent Jack was blessed with, was the ability to fix ANYTHING. He enjoyed the challenge, and would say “if it can be built, I can fix it”. Something he proved time after time.

Skiing, hunting, fly fishing on the Provo River, bowling and tying flies were a few of his favorite hobbies. Jack taught himself to ski in his early years. Alta was his favorite resort, and he often followed behind in Alf Engen’s tracks as he glided down the mountain, trying to mimic his gracefulness. All who saw Jack ski would agree that he became a master skier. Jack was a workaholic, always busy and would often state “I love to work, isn’t that crazy”. Jack was very charitable with his time and talents, often performing acts of service with the recipients never knowing that it was him. He never wanted attention for his kind deeds.

Jack was a great son, husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and friend. He is survived by wife, Sharon, son Bryan Von Snyder (Becky), daughters, Leisa Arave (Tracy), Michelle Yack (Ed), Kriss Ricord (Jesse). Brothers Paul Snyder, Steve Snyder and sister Amber Knight. Eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, oldest son Kelly Jack Snyder, and sister Ava Ann Porter.

Special thanks to Dr. James Shortridge and the amazing staff at Utah Cancer Specialists for the loving care they provided Jack for the last 3 years.
