Arlene was born to Clara Pauline Dieterle and Mahonry Earl Lund. Arlene grew up in Rose Park and went to schools Onequa, Jackson and West High graduating on June 5, 1949. After graduating she was 17 and met her sweetheart Virgil Allan Nelson (21). They married June 22,1949.

Virgil and Arlene started their family with Danny Allan Nelson (Linda), Randy Alvin Nelson (Bonnie) preceded in death 2022, Wally Arnold Nelson (Kathy) preceded in death 2020, Earl Henry Nelson (Debra), Candy Annette Nelson Doud (David) and Virgil LeRoy Nelson. She has 27 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren.

Her biggest love was for her family and children. She loved our family reunion gatherings with all the family near her. She loved gardening , crocheting, sewing, quilting, painting, baking cookies, chocolate candy and fishing. Arlene also graduated Beauty School and worked from home. In her younger years she loved working with preschool, primary children, Boy Scouts, nurses aid in old folks homes and teens in the Salt Lake Detention Center. She was an Eagle Scout leader and a Journeyman fiberglass molder. Harvest time meant she was canning tomatoes, peaches, beets, jellies and corn. Her hands were always moving to keep her arthritis from stiffening up.

She had a great time singing around the player piano with her friends and family. Her son Virgil spent many years taking care of Arlene and Virgil in their declining years. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Virgil for devoting himself to their care.

Danny, Earl, Candy & Virgil : I was sad to hear about your mom but feel that she is out of pain & at peace. She was a 2nd mom to me and I have only the fondest memories of her. I will never forget her smile.
