Arlan passed away on September 15, 2021 at his home in Sandy, UT. He was born on March 9, 1945 in Panguitch, Utah at the Mary Ipson Maternity Home to Alfred and Ada Heaps. The family lived in Escalante, Utah for several years before moving to Sandy, Utah. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1963. He joined the US Navy in 1965 serving until 1971. He started his longtime career with Kennecott Copper Mine in 1964. He retired from Kennecott in 2001 after 37 years. He married Flora Rodrigues on January 27, 1967.
He is survived by his son, Shane (Becky) Heaps, daughter Debra Garcia, grandchildren Wyatt Heaps, Gabi Heaps, Morgan Heaps, Zoe Heaps, Aaron Garcia, one great-grandson, twin sister Arlene Elliott, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, brother Milton James Heaps, Vernon Heaps, sisters Alice Day, Colleen Lewis, and infant daughter Shawn Heaps.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, September 28th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.), Sandy, UT 84092. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the graveside services.
