AnnaJean Batty Munford

Jul 20, 1941 Jul 17, 2025

AnnaJean Batty Munford passed away on July 17, 2025 at her home in Hurricane, Utah surrounded by her three sons and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; her parents, Esbert and Hazel Batty; her sister, Birdean Murie; her brother, Tony Batty; and one granddaughter, Myshy Anna Munford. She is survived by her sister, Marjorie Francis; her four children, Jeff, Paula (Ferguson), Guy, and Scott; seven grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

Anna was born in Toqureville, Utah and has lived in California, Washington State, Germany, and Kansas. She worked as a CNA for a brief time after raising her four children. She enjoyed raising flowers of all kinds but her favorites were Christmas cactus, roses, and African violets.

Anna was one to never complain about what life dished out to her. Her husband, Carl, passed away at age 36 when they had four kids under the age of 10. She raised the kids by herself and did a great job at it. After her kids were grown, she worked as a CNA and as a small woman (she was under 5 foot) she was lifting and moving men and women twice her size and weight. This caused her to have pain for the rest of her life. She never had a lot but, was happy with what she had. Everyone who met her, including all the doctors and nurses who helped her these last few months, seemed to like her and I never heard a bad word said about her.

She had many things that brought great joy into her life. The birth of every grandchild and great-grandchild, being one of them. She loved seeing friends and family and spending time with them. She loved to read and spent a lot of time with a book in her hand. Her great faith in the Gospel and the faith she had in the Atonement. Fath that she would one day be with her beloved husband Carl for the rest of eternity and after 53 years, what a great reunion that must have been.

She will be interred next to her husband, Carl, at the Parowan, Utah Cemetery. There will be a short graveside dedication service at her grave, 10:00 a.m. on July 23, 2025 at the Parowan Cemetery.

Arrangements are made under the direction of Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 South Bluff Street, St. George, Utah. 435-673-2454.
