Alton Cleve Peterson passed away on May 10, 2021 in the comfort of his home at the age of 88. He was born on March 10, 1933 in Logan, Utah to Marie Schmidt (1907 ~ 2000) and J. Darrel Peterson (1903 ~ 1974). Alton married the love of his life, Lois Arlene Barnhill from Coffeyville, Kansas, on July 16, 1956 in the Logan Temple.

Alton was a coin collector, square dancer, gardener, he enjoyed his ham radio, reading, recycling, and doing TV repair. His biggest accomplishment was working in the field of electronics. Alton and Lois were travel-enthusiasts. Alton was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served many callings and did clerical work.

Alton graduated from Billings Senior High School in Billings, Montana, receiving a two-year diploma in Engineering at Eastern Montana College in Billings, then went on to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He attended BYU for two years, and this is where he and Lois met. He then went on to receive an Electronic Technician Diploma at Radio Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah, he then received a two-year degree in Electronic Technology at the Salt Lake Community College, and finally received his Bachelors Degree from Weber State College in Electronic Technology.

Alton is survived by his two daughters, Barbara (Donald) Crawshaw of Sandy, Utah, and Deborah Reams of Sandy, Utah. He was a grandfather to four, and a great-grandfather to nine. He is also survived by his brothers Ralph, LeRoy, Rodney, and sisters Ilene and DeLores.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois Arlene Barnhill (1933 ~ 2005), brothers Clark (1934 ~ 1999), Marvin (1945 ~ 1980), and Calvin (1949 ~ 1996), and his sister Margie Gifford (1939 ~ 2008).

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM with a viewing prior beginning at 12:30 PM at the Roseboro Ward 1880 East 9800 South, Sandy, Utah 84092. Interment will follow next to his loving wife at Memorial Redwood Mortuary and Cemetery 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah 84123.
