Albert Knight Thorstrom

Albert Knight Thorstrom, age 91, passed away on December 1, 2020. He was born August 1, 1929 in Salt Lake City, UT, to Rosamond Sine and Andrew Leonard Thorstrom. He was the youngest of 6 children. Albert never did get the chance to meet his father who passed away unexpectedly while his mother was pregnant with him.

Albert spent his early years growing up in Salt Lake City. As a young man Albert trained as a paratrooper in the US Army. After his service in the Army, Albert began his career with Safeway. He spent the majority of his career working for them, starting out bagging groceries and working his way up to long-haul truck driving, a position he maintained until retirement.

In his free-time Albert enjoyed a number of hobbies. He developed a close relationship with his brother-in-law Chick Whitney, and they along with Albert’s nephews, Terry and Russell Whitney and Gary Thorstrom spent many weekends waterskiing at Pineview Reservoir.

A heartfelt thanks to Albert’s many neighbors who so generously gave of their time to look out and care for him in his later years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Leonard Thorstrom and Rosamond Sine Thorstrom and his siblings, Andrew Leonard Thorstrom, Marie Whitney, Doris Kelley, June Westbury and Edith Ashby. Albert will be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and neighbors.

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2020, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at The Taylorsville Utah North Central Stake, 2976 West Winchester Drive, West Valley City, Utah 84119, with a graveside service to follow at The Salt Lake City Cemetery, 200 North E Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.
