Afton Bean Wride, 65, 667 Boyd, died of an extended illness Wednesday at Bannock Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 6, 1920 in Olmstead, Utah, to Roland William and Irene Russell Bean. She spent her early childhood in Utah, attending schools in Lehi and Brigham City. She later moved with her family to American Falls, completing her schooling there as an honor student.
She married Jesse H. Wride in American Falls on Sept. 5, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple. They made their home in Aberdeen for many years and owned and operated Wride’s IGA. In 1972 they moved to Chubbuck.
Mrs. Wride was active in the LDS Church and had served in Relief Society, Mutual and as ward librarian for many years. She was also a visiting teacher.
She worked for the Idaho Power Company for 20 years as a customer service representative. She had been active in civic organizations, including Jay-C-Ettes, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and PTA.
She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her yard and flowers.
She is survived by her husband of Chubbuck; one son, J. Steve Wride, Sandy, Utah; two daughters, Mrs. Larry (Patricia) Rawlins, Pocatello; Mrs. Michael (Teresa) Dustin, Brigham City, Utah; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Fawn) Kress, American Falls; three brothers, Russel R. Bean, Las Vegas, Nev.; Roy W. Bean, Filer; and Lynn B. Bean, Seattle, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Chubbuck Stake Center, at Hawthorne and James, with Bishop Lee Merrill officiating. The family will receive friends at Manning Funeral Chapel Sunday from 7 until 9 p.m. and at the stake center on Monday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Aberdeen Cemetery.
