Craig William Petersen, 68, of Manti, Utah passed away May 11, 2024, in the Utah Valley Hospital, Provo, Utah.

Born January 26, 1956, in Oakland, California, the son of Donald William Petersen and Berniece Matson. He married Deborah Godwin Petersen on November 19, 1992, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Craig moved to Tooele at the age of 8. He graduated from Tooele High School in 1974. Craig served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Kansas Oklahoma Mission.

Craig lived life big and had many passions in life. He loved to boat, waterski, snow ski and play racquetball. He loved to fly his plane and ride his motorcycle. The last few years he found a new passion in riding the hills by the campground in his side by side. Craig also had a beautiful singing voice and sang on many occasions as well as giving his family concerts in the car.

Craig loved his family and his many best friends… his beloved dogs. He enjoyed spending time with all of his grandchildren.

Craig lived many lives during his time here. He was a police officer for 21 years serving for both Tooele County and West Valley City. He loved to serve and protect, investigate accidents and teach EVO during his career. Upon retirement he went to work for Alpha Corp selling software. His years selling software allowed him the opportunity to travel. Many of his best times in life were spent traveling with his wife Debbi. Craig loved cruises and went on many over the years. His favorite vacation was down through Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras visiting the ruins. He loved the church and enjoyed seeing the places of the Book of Mormon. In 2013 Craig fulfilled a dream to own a company and he and Debbi bought the campground in Manti, Utah. This was his favorite time. Craig worked hard to provide for his family.

He is survived by his wife Deborah, daughters Melody (Mark) Chavez, Tooele, Utah, Kimberly (Steve) Mullins, Tooele, Utah and Dondi (Jimmy) Schenck, Manti, Utah. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Gardens on Sunday May 19, 2024, from 6pm -8pm. Services will be held on Monday May 20, 2024. Viewing will be from 10:30am– 11:45am. The funeral starts at 12:00pm followed by the dedication of the grave.
