Carol Ann Christensen

Carol Ann Leavitt Christensen, truly beloved by her family and friends, was the first of six children born to Jesse James and Phoebe Reeves Leavitt. While insisting she was going to die at the age of 88, she passed away of congestive heart failure at 87, just two days short of her birthday. Close enough. Her birthday will be grandly celebrated in Heaven with loved ones who preceded her including son Dirk (Laura) Christensen, grandson Carson Koch, her parents, sister Arden (Ray) Mandet and many in-laws and nieces and nephews.

Mom loved her TV shows and religiously recorded programs to watch, especially The Walking Dead and the Utah Jazz games. She was very intelligent and loved studying the scriptures and reading more about the last days and spent countless hours doing genealogy work. She also loved decorating for any and every holiday, which her family found endlessly entertaining and exhausting. She was an amazing event planner, coordinating camping trips to Moosehorn and cruise ship adventures, but her favorites were family Christmas and Easter parties. She and dad would host the annual Christensen Easter Egg Hunt which proved to be an athletic event attended by all family (and some friends) searching their acreage for candy eggs and money and later filling up on homemade cinnamon rolls, boiled eggs and bacon while counting up their booty. She generously opened the beautiful home dad built her to others often having people visit or live with them. She also loved her outings with her sisters and friends (especially when they ended up in Wendover or Mesquite), chocolate donuts, shopping at Kohl's, and getting her nails done.

She is survived by Glen Oviatt Christensen, her eternal companion for over 70 years, whom she coaxed into exercising and healing after a fall resulting in a brain bleed that should have left her widowed four years ago; and six of her seven children: Roxann (John) Glassey, Sandy, Utah; Debra (Kent) Lundgreen, Providence, Utah; Lance (Becky) Christensen, Bluffdale, Utah; Chad (Kristen) Christensen, South Jordan, Utah; Jody (Chris) Koch, St. George, Utah; and Shawn (Molly) Christensen, St. George, Utah. Her siblings, Margaret (Stan) Price, Maureen (Jerry) Beck, Sandra (Ron) Carter, and Jay (Lois) Christensen.  And numerous nieces and nephews.

Carol was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and her greatest calling was that of mother where she taught her children to love Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Her family recognized her prayers were so powerful they often called to ask her to pray for someone in need.  And Heaven help you if she decided you needed prayers because that was a guarantee that something or someone would come into your life to shape you up. She was adored by many in her life because she paid attention to people Mom's Wisdom: What comes around, goes around. and made them feel needed. She leaves behind a legacy of 7 children, 28 grandchildren and 51 great grandchildren (so far). Every one of them can tell stories about why they knew she loved them and many will weep at her passing.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, October 10 at Memorial Estates Lake Hills location, 10055 S State St, Sandy, UT from 11:00 - 12:00.
