About Us

Freund Funeral Home was established in 1924, by Josie Freund. J. D. and Merle Bramlette became the owners on January 1, 1946. “Aunt” Josie continued to help operate the business until her death in 1988. Jay Bramlette graduated from mortuary school in September of 1972 and came to work for Freund Funeral Home. In December of 1976, Freund Funeral Home was incorporated. After the death of J. D. Bramlette, Jr in December of 1979 and Merle Bramlette in October of 1998, Jay became the sole owner. Eric Draper began working for Freund in 2005, attended mortuary school, and became a licensed funeral director. As Jay began thinking about retirement, he wanted to ensure the business stayed in the family. Eric and Dawn Draper purchased the funeral home in April 2010 becoming the fourth generation to own the business. The Drapers continue the long-standing traditions of Freund Funeral Home. We are located on the corner of Gonzales and Courthouse in Cuero, Texas.
